OUR VILLAGE
The Mt. Airy Village refers to our little corner of Greene Street and Carpenter Lane, but also to all of us who comprise the community that reaches far beyond our block.
As the allure of the giant mall experience wanes and people look to their own neighborhoods and communities for fulfillment, both social and commercial, the corner store and the local coffee shop become integral parts of people’s lives. Our village has people, shops, a fair and supporting services. We believe in the saying “it takes a village”, and we are proud to be part of this one.
The Mt. Airy Village originally referred to the little corner of Greene Street and Carpenter Lane when, in 2006, the businesses on our corner started the Mt. Airy Village Fair to celebrate our unique and special community. This section of the website celebrates ALL of us who make up the High Point Village, wherever you live. We have expanded our Village beyond the corner to include the new Allens Lane Train Station High Point, but it also includes the farmers in Lancaster County who bring us local produce, and True North Roasting House who started out as MY customer in Seattle and later quit her job to become a coffee roaster, and it includes the San Fernando Cooperativa in Peru, and it includes our neighbors who moved away, and it includes the friends and family YOU bring to our village.
