MARK MATTSON

Mark Mattson is a Philadelphia-based artist, illustrator, video game designer, and friend of all things anthropomorphic. That's a big word. He exhibits regularly across the United States, and lists as past clients such folks as Sesame Workshop, Disney, Nickelodeon, and Warner Bros.

Things that shouldn't have faces, but with faces, is a central theme to me and my work. I explore the mish-mashing intersections of subtlety with obviousness, gag cartoons with high portraiture, and children's book optimism with socially awkward contemporary art pragmatism. But with candy, and popcorn boxes, so it's not so bad. I live and work in Mt. Airy, Philadelphia, but am originally from everywhere else, including South Dakota, Texas, Ohio, and Chicago.
